Playtox’s service now available in Opera Mini Speed Dial
December 11, 2012, Oslo-Novosibirsk. Playtox – developer of mobile MMO games announces concluding an agreement with Opera Software.
According to the two-year agreement between the two companies, Playtox is now Opera's chosen partner for mobile browser games in Russia and CIS. With this cooperation Opera Mini users in this countries can now find the service in Speed Dial, a set of visual bookmarks that gives a quick access to favorite websites and services.
Active growth of Russian browser online mobile games market which started in the last year as a separate segment has already exceeded the expectations of Russia and CIS.
A real boom of game entertainment in Russian mobile internet refers to year of 2012. Specialists appraise the market at 50 000 000 USD with more than 30% annual growth.
In total, according to J'son & Partners data, by the end of 2012 Russian mobile game market will increase to 392 000 000 USD.
Besides the traditional free-to-play model of monetization, mobile browser games are the excellent drivers for data traffic (3G, 4G) generation.
It is this feature that is of great interest to mobile operators as VAS services, and also as a good social keeper for any game portal audience in the case of willingness to offer entertainment services to its users.
This game segment doesn’t cannibalize income and audience from the traditional ways of content distribution such as downloadable games; due to their specificity online games don’t substitute traditional content for users, but only prolong lifetime, link users to the main portal and service.
“Opera Mini is one of the most popular browsers in the world. It is used by over 194 million people monthly, and a significant amount of these users are in Russia. I’m sure that all of them will appreciate our games and spend their free time playing with pleasure,” commented Dmitriy Sergeev, co-founder of Playtox.
“We have been working with Playtox for many years and are completely satisfied with the results of our joint projects in game industry. That’s why we decided to keep on cooperating with this company. We are happy to offer Opera Mini users the best entertainment they can get right in their favorite browser," said Mikhail Ilin, General Manager, Mobile Business Development, Opera Software.
